EventLog was developed with inspiration from researchers investigating ant colonies who required a straightforward and portable method to collect field data for subsequent analysis. Designed as a versatile data logger, EventLog allows users to configure it to monitor any event types they desire. Events are instantaneously recorded with time markers and can be archived at will to initiate a new set. Moreover, the app enables the saving of event types, eliminating the need for repetitive entries when starting new data collection processes.

For data analysis purposes, EventLog facilitates exporting data in csv (comma-separated values) format, compatible with major analytical programs. Note: Exporting EventLog files requires email functionality via the Mail app on your device.

A potential user audience of EventLog could include a tennis coach seeking to monitor specific statistics for a player. The coach can define the event types to track, like aces, winners, and unforced errors. Each event type features a dedicated button on the Log Events interface, allowing easy logging accompanied by timestamps. Events can be modified, and additional information like match scores can be appended. A Generic Event category serves as a flexible option for marking game starts and incorporating other miscellaneous annotations. The app calculates event tallies and supports multiple datasets locally. Post-match, the coach exports the data to Numbers or Excel for further analysis and employs charts to enhance coaching strategies based on player performance insights.
